University of Alberta has topped the list of having the most students who have signed up for Seeking Arrangement. It is a website that links "sugar daddies" to "sugar babies," who are college students.

The National Post reported that matchmaking website, Seeking Arrangement, has released its rankings of Canadian universities with the most sign-ups. Clients of the site negotiate financial arrangements with benefactors.

Last year, the University of Alberta had the most sign-ups. The school had 138 new students who logged on. It had a total of 422 students who are members of the site this year. University of Toronto has the most members on the site with 683 students. Coming in second place is Ryerson University with 577 students.

Other universities in the top 10 are University of Guelph, York University, McGill University, University of Ottawa, Carleton University, University of Saskatchewan and University of Victoria.

President of the University of Alberta's Students' Union Fahim Rahman said that he is not surprised that a lot of students are signing up. He did say that it's troubling how so many students are worried about their college expenses that they turn to wealthy benefactors with the expectation of having a sexual relationship.

There are 631,678 total users of Seeking Arrangement in Canada alone. 18 percent are "sugar daddies."

Sugar baby females make up 65 percent of the total while only one percent are sugar baby mommies. There are also sugar baby males at 15 percent.

Last year, the Associated Press noted that the popularity of these websites surged as the cost of higher education continues to rise. The internet has definitely made "sugar daddy" arrangements much easier.

Seeking Arrangement confirmed that it is more popular in Los Angeles and New York. According to a BBC report last year, there have been a quarter of a million U.K. students who joined the site.

However, there are concerns that this may be posing a danger to its members. There have been a link in the rise in crimes to dating apps and these apps have also led to an increased rates of sexually transmitted infections.
