As 2017 begins, a lot of people are making their New Year's resolutions in order to become their better selves. For college students, aside from vowing to strive much harder in school, getting rid of bad health habits should also be a priority.

College students are notorious for their unhealthy lifestyle, with the limited resources they have and the pressure they feel with their studies. USA Today College shared bad health habits that young people should break as early as they can.

Junk Food

There have been a lot of warnings about how junk food is not good for one's health. Fast food and processed snacks were major factors of why childhood obesity as well as heart disease and diabetes increased in today's generation.

Microwave Dinners

Similar to junk food, microwave dinners are also processed food. While they may be easy and cheap, it does not make up for the fact that most of the ingredients inside are not good for your body.

Caffeine

A lot of people are dependent on coffee for their morning fix. However, it is recommended that it caffeine should only be taken once per day.

Moreover, it's best to take it without the extra sugar and whipped cream since these can cause spikes in insulin. According to Business Insider, caffeine can actually give you heartburn since it raises acid levels in your stomach.

Paper Cups

While paper cups may be deemed as recyclable, it actually still depends on your city's waste management system. Always opt for reusable mugs instead. Paper cups are also coated with chemicals that can prove to be harmful to your body and to the environment.
