Google keyboard app, Gboard, celebrates 500 millions of download - making in one of the most popular app in Play Store.

Google Gboard has been downloaded by 500 million users so far. It puts the app in the most popular tray alongside Skype and DropBox, according to PCMag. The huge number isn't limited to Play Store because Google has launched Gboard for iOS, too.

What is Gboard?

It was named Google Keyboard before Google released the update and changed it to Gboard. The third-party app has a lot of fancy things and Google promises to perfect the keyboard for iPad version as well.

The interface looks almost the same as the iPhone keyboard but there is a difference. The Gboard is integrated with Search function for browsing, suggestions and more - and these are done without switching app. Simply tap the G logo and type what's needed on Google Search. Searching for a restaurant becomes easier as user can tap and share the address to friends via Google Maps Card.

Google's Gboard has solved what many users had been complaining about. It finally displays the number of row on screen. This new layout brings more convenience and as it also comes with multiple languages support, according to Tech Crunch. Other feature includes glide typing, GIF search and an extensive collection of Emojis.

There has been a lot of discussion in the media about Google's move in favoring iOS. For instance, The Verge once wrote about Google apps on iPhone - which seem to have more functionality than the Google apps on Android. In the future, it is possible that Google will push more developments and make better apps for iOS.
