Battle lines have been drawn since Apple released iOS 10.2 to the public. All is quiet in the battlefront where Pangu and Luca Todesco seem to be only two-left waging war silently against Apple's formidable iOS.

Users have been anticipating for an iOS 10 jailbreak for some time now, in fact, some are expecting for a release this month. Word got out that hacking group Pangu was waiting for a more stable version of iOS 10.2 before they unleash their iOS 10 jailbreak.

iOS 10 jailbreak status

While everyone is eyeing Pangu for an iOS 10 jailbreak, the word is out that Luca Todesco is on the verge of releasing his version of an iOS 10.1.1 jailbreak. In a Tweet, Todesco has been advising his followers to stay on iOS 10.1.1; others who have gone ahead are advised to downgrade.

Just how close he is to an actual working jailbreak is anyone's guess. Todesco is tight-lipped about his progress and has not been replying to queries as of Dec. 16, which would indicate he is hard at work for a release soon.

If all goes well, we might see a release come early in 2017. However, if it turns out better, we might be given a late Christmas surprise before the year ends, according to 1redDrop.

Still, Pangu remains silent and followers are being skeptical whether the hacking group does have a jailbreak ready for release. That said everything is relegated to rumors regardless the information is from Pangu, Todesco or anybody for that matter.

Why downgrade to iOS 10.1.1?

To take advantage of the future tool, downgrading to iOS 10.1.1 is necessary since Apple is known for stopping firmware signing quickly. Once they do so, it would be impossible to downgrade and therefore, it would no longer be possible to take advantage of a jailbreak tool once one is finally released.

So far, Todesco is the only one who has given word on a possible jailbreak release using the discovered Project Zero exploit to develop a full iOS 10.1.1 jailbreak. However, Todesco is also known to not share jailbreak information before, as attested by his detractors, according to ValueWalk.

Meanwhile, check out the video below where Team Pangu demonstrated iOS 10.2.1 - 10.2 jailbreak for the first time.
