Huawei Mate 9 will reportedly make a US debut next year. The device comes with plenty of upgrades from its predecessor, Mate 8, and it's also claiming a performance - 80 percent faster than the rivals.

Huawei Mate 9 is a premium device that's looking similar to iPhone 7 Plus. Both are sleek, slim and feel expensive, too. The phablet phones have fingerprint sensors, IPS LCD and dual lens camera module.

However, the fingerprint sensor on Mate 9 is less slippery. And with Mate 9 still has a headphone jack, it is more convenience for video and audio playback although iPhone 7 Plus delivers a slightly better quality.

The Mate 9 is enhanced with machine learning algorithm that analyzes user's behavior. Huawei claims that it enables the device to perform 50 percent faster than its predecessor and 80 percent faster than the rivals after 16 months of simulated usage, ThisReviewer reported.

Huawei Mate 9 packs dual-lens camera (20 MP +12 MP) and 8 MP front-facing camera. In terms of color reproduction, Mate 9 seems to have paler results in displaying the photos.

The iPhone 7 Plus does shoot better and the tones are close to reality. However, the Mate 9 dynamic range brings excellent details to the table. And although the dual lens relies on software processing, the results are surprisingly good.

Huawei Mate 9 packs 4,000 mAh battery. Although iPhone 7 Plus packs lower battery capacity, both are energy-saving devices that can last up to two days of light usage. However, Mate 9 charges superfast in 30 minutes, gaining 58 percent in 30 minutes while the 7 Plus only levels up till 19 percent.

Huawei Mate 9 squeezes the performance and battery inside one solid chassis and it is sold at around $740.
