Xbox One Games are Now Playable in Oculus Rift VR Headset

Way back in 2014, Microsoft sealed a partnership with Facebook-owned VR Company Oculus where the two have come up with two agreements: Oculus VR headset should be compatible with Xbox One controllers and Xbox One Games are playable in Oculus VR headset, The Verge reported. However, the latter was delayed until recently when the Director of Xbox Live Larry Hryb a.k.a. "Major Nelson" confirmed in Twitter the availability of Xbox One streaming app.   

Xbox One Streaming app is available for free in Oculus store. Through this app, players can watch their games while immersing themselves in three virtual theaters, enjoy games like "Edge of Nowhere" which is an Oculus Rift exclusive and expand the library of VR games both from Xbox One and Xbox 360 that are compatible with the headset.

However, players should take note that this is not an actual virtual reality compatibility since there is no optimization that has been applied to be able to play the games while streaming in Xbox One while using the screen of Oculus Rift VR headset, Game Rant reported. For this reason, Microsoft is reportedly eyeing the VR headsets for Windows 10 through its partnership with tech giants like Asus, HP, Lenovo and Dell aside from pushing their plans on Hololens for their own AR headset.

The Xbox One Streaming App for Oculus Rift has been on the works for 18 months. Through this app, it is expected for the players to make a massive shift to Oculus Rift rather than sticking to their respective Xbox One gaming consoles.
