The latest in Redstone 2 update brings a new inbox app that can be utilized to view 3D models in different formats. Moreover, Microsoft is set on bringing HomeHub functionality into future Windows 10 software upgrades that may be rolling out in 2017 along with the Redstone 2, Redstone 3, Redstone 4 updates scheduled also for next year.

Last October, there were already three important feature updates for Windows 10, which was the "3D for Everyone." The very first feature, the Creators update codenamed Redstone 2, revealed the Paint 3D Preview App and the Remix3D.com community sharing for various 3D models.

The most recent Redstone 2 update is for testers in Windows 10 Build 14986, providing a View 3D app preview, which is a new inbox app where 3D models in 3MF, OBJ, PLY, FBX and STL formats can now be viewed according to Supersite Windows. The new app provides various tools like panning, zooming, and manipulating the view of the 3D model by using the keyboard, touch or pen.

Moreover, the latest Redstone 2 update also provides links in the app when a 3D model has been loaded. In this way, the Remix3D.com community will have access to the 3D models like taking a display into the Paint 3D.

Meanwhile, Microsoft is working on a HomeHub functionality for Windows 10. The software giant is eyeing to rival Google and Amazon, but its approach is far more ambitious for it will not offer a separate hardware like its rivals,

Instead, Microsoft plans to integrate HomeHub into the Windows 10 software upgrade. Rumor has it that Microsoft has already asked HP and Lenovo to manufacture HomeHub-optimized devices that will be released at the end of 2017, the Express reported.

It appears that Microsoft is optimizing its Windows 10 software features, which is unrivaled as of date. The Redstone 2 update is also part of it by integrating "3D for Everyone," which paves the way for gaming enhancements.
