Kelsea Ballerini is a popular country singer. Born and raised in Tennessee, she attended Lipscomb University for a couple of years until she pursued her singing career. Now, this successful country star was at Oliver Middle School with "Music Makes Us" to announce something big.

Music Education is a big deal for Kelsea Ballerini, last week she announced that a $1 million grant is going to be handed to the Metro Nashville Public Schools to support such education. The donation aims to strengthen music and its education to kids in the city, America's Morning Show reported.

Ballerina was at Oliver Middle School to announce the big news. She was serenaded by talented students. In partnership with the Country Music Awards and "Music Makes Us", the grant will support music teachers and provide musical instruments, too. The donation was raised by the CMA itself through the CMA Music Festival and its Foundation. The $1 million was achieved through the festival last June, 2016, Taste of Country reported.

Currently, the CMA has already reached $11 million in support for the last 10 years and has donated $17.5 million to over forty public schools that aims to educate kids about music through school education and after-school programs in the United States. According to Kelsea Ballerini, she feels it is important to give back to the kids all the opportunities they can get to learn and continue their passion for music. More than 89,000 students in Metro Nashville will benefit from this grant.

Ballerini recalls taking a lot of chorus and theater classes when she was a young girl. These skills, according to the country star, are still being used by her today.

The Chairman of the CMA Foundation, Joe Galante, said that when they started, they prioritized the funding of musical instruments. Schools have not purchased new instruments for years. Now, he emphasizes that each Metro school has instruments and the CMA Foundation is looking at providing support for teachers.
