IBM and Apple worked together in combining their strengths in targeting the education market. IBM Watson Element for Educators, the companies' latest iPad app, aims to give educators a more holistic view of the interests, accomplishments, learning activities, and progress of students in grade K-12.

IBM started the initiative in 2013 and development was hastened with the 2014 partnership with Apple, that led to the creation of the MobileFirst for iOS program.

Watson, cognitive technology of IBM, obtains from three data classes to adjust curriculum with the proficiencies and interests of students. IBM Watson Element for Educators utilizes the records of educators of students behavior to provide insight on the kinds of personalized content and learning environments that will motivate them for learning.

Watson Element merges personal interests and data of students

The app is a portal where educators can access, handle, and obtain ideas from different data sets. The app uses data that can exist in different systems, as such that occurs in Coppell Independent School District (ISD) in Texas.

IBM and Apple will join forces with schools to integrate significant data into the app. This allows teachers to monitor the learning paths of students and record observations regarding their preferred learning styles, in a commentary in CIO. 

Watson Element bridges the achievement gap

Curriculum and other published materials can be integrated by educators. Watson provides insights to teachers on what tool to use for specific students. A teacher might searching for data for Chemistry and Watson can assist the teacher in finding it.

This recent iPad app is accessible to teachers in an annual, per-student price, in addition to a one-time setup cost that involves integration with the school districts' existing curriculum, databases and technologies.

Teachers are excited about the opportunities that Watson Element can bring to the educational system. Teachers have exclaimed the transformational uses of Watson Element. Educators say that Watson Element has the potential to change education.
