Apple will apparently release three new iPhone models next year including a 4.7-inch model touted as the cheapest of the iPhone 8 line.

iPhone 4.7-inch

Next year's iPhone models include the OLED iPhone 8 as well as two other variants sporting LCDs in the 4.7 and 5.5-inch models. Sources report that although the 4.7-inch model may be the cheapest of the lot, it does not fall short on exciting features than its bigger siblings.

The 4.7-inch iPhone will feature a glass body, same as the bigger models. This feature according to MacRumors is in support of wireless charging. KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo said earlier that new iPhones are likely to support wireless charging next year.

The 4.7-inch iPhone features an all-new-design form factor and possess superior specs. Kuo predicts the unit will fill in an unprecedented replacement demand.

iPhone Glass Chassis

Apple's next generation of iPhones will employ glass chassis for its next iteration of the lineup. While most pundits say the decision is for aesthetics, Kuo says Apple is turning to a glass sandwich design for better facilitate wireless charging.

Kuo leaked that Apple tasked supplier Pegatron in producing the necessary hardware for supplying wireless charging technology for the upcoming iPhone models. The previous iteration of wireless charging units requires the phone or any device be placed on top of a charging mat.

The new technology will allow tetherless charging by having the phone unit to be charged as long as it is within the range of the charging transmitter. Note that the technology is a feature already seen in some Samsung models, according to AppleInsider.

Meanwhile, wireless charging technology is already present and Enegous the company that developed Wattup Power Transmitter is licensing partners to use the technology in anything electronic that needs to be powered or charged wirelessly.
