Galaxy J7 Prime vs Xperia XZ: Build and display

The Galaxy J7 Prime and Xperia XZ have significant differences in design. Sony's flagship looks masculine with its signature rectangular shape, while the Galaxy J7 Prime offers the graceful phone's design with curved edges typically made by Samsung.

Xperia XZ is 9 grams lighter than J7 Prime. It boasts 1080 by 1920 pixels resolution (424 ppi) on its 5.2-inch display. Galaxy J7 Prime is a 5.5-inch phone with Super AMOLED display and 720 by 1280 pixels resolution (267 ppi).

Galaxy J7 Prime vs Xperia XZ: Performance

Both smartphones run Android Marshmallow out of the box but Sony plans to make Android Nougat available soon for Xperia XZ, according to GSM Arena. There is no word yet from Samsung about the update for Galaxy J7 Prime.

Xperia XZ packs Snapdragon 820, 3 GB RAM and two options of storage: 32 and 64 GB. Galaxy J7 Prime offers Snapdragon 617, 2 GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage.

The optics department in the Galaxy J7 Prime gets higher quality, with 23 MP and 13 MP for its front and rear-facing shooters. It comes with EIS software for steady shots, LED Flash and laser autofocus.

Galaxy J7 Prime optic gets 13 MP and 5 MP cameras with loads of features but it does not capture as of those in Xperia XZ. Samsung equips its flagship with 3,300 mAh battery. It has bigger capacity than Xperia XZ with only 2,900 mAh.

Who should buy Samsung Galaxy J7 Prime?

Samsung seems to bring everything on average level in Galaxy J7 Prime. For moderate users who are not into gaming, photography or music but want an elegant and powerful device - they can opt for this phone.

Who should buy Sony Xperia XZ?

Sony clearly aims at photography enthusiasts with this flagship. It's got excellent image quality on par with a pocket camera and comparable to Kodak's newest smartphone, Ektra. The multimedia department in Xperia XZ receives great attention from the maker. For gamers and heavy users - the device is a solid choice.
