The Model 3 is the end goal of Tesla Motors CEO, Elon Musk's "Top Secret Plan" and a step toward his vision of "sustainable transport."

The base model is priced at $35,000, which makes it "affordable." As a result, production for 2017 was sold-out and the delivery date for new orders is estimated to happen mid-2018 or later, according to Tesla Motors. Production has sold-out with around 400,000 reservations, The Week reported

The company has given high-technology options for owners to choose from. This means the Tesla Model 3 can be tailored to fit the driver's requirements. One such option is a self-driving feature developed from the Autopilot hardware installed in previous models. The new cars will be capable of full autonomous driving.

Musk promises the car will outperform everything in its price-range. The company claims the Tesla Model 3 is able to run 215 miles on a single charge. They also claim that the car is able to reach 60 miles-per-hour from a stand-still in under six seconds. Another important aspect to note is the Model 3's stability. The center-of-gravity is lower than previous models thanks to a new design for the batteries and motor, according to Auto Express. This meant that the car resists the tendency to roll, or lean outward during turns. Enthusiasts have agreed that these features, coupled with the option for all-wheel-drive, makes the Tesla Model 3 an excellent handling car. Not only that, it runs off of electricity.

The company stated they will make the car more practical by building more charging sites all around the world. Also, the car's trunk spaces are reportedly being redesigned for ease of use.

The production run of the Tesla Model 3 is estimated at 100,000 to 200,000 units for 2017. However, Tesla Motors is expected to expand the operation and increase production to 500,000 units by 2018.  Elon Musk also hopes to exceed the current performance of the car with further development as stated in the video below.
