Avid gamers rejoice as Rockstar Games posted another teaser image to its official Twitter account, confirming what looks like a new game in its Wild West series, "Red Dead."

Rockstar did not confirm whether the teaser image is associated with "Red Dead Redemption 2" (a.k.a "Red Dead Revolver 3") or an HD remake; however, the image shows what looks like a gang of cowboys in front of a setting sun. A larger version of the image was posted on Rockstar's website.

In addition, the official Rockstar Games social media accounts have replaced their icons to an all-new red logo, further hinting that a "Red Dead Redemption" sequel is on its way.

If rumors proved to be true, and the new game is indeed close to being unveiled, and there's a possibility that it would be announced on the anniversary of GTA 5's Oct. 25 announcement in 2011, according to Express.

Other rumors doing rounds speculate that Rockstar will announce it with a trailer later this week, most likely on Thursday, Oct. 20. Rockstar first announced "GTA 5" via a tweet that linked to the game's website and logo. This was followed by a release of the first "GTA 5" trailer on Nov. 2.

There are umpteen rumors about "Red Dead Redemption 2" release date all over the internet. One source even claims that a HD remake of the original "RDR" will be launched alongside the much awaited sequel.

According to a leaked "Red Dead Redemption 2" map, the imminent game will center on some of the same regions as its precursor. The sequel is also likely to feature new locations further to the east.

With "GTA Online" content and updates likely to dry up next spring, some optimistic fans speculated that the "Red Dead Redemption 2" release date could be set for as early as May 2017. If this comes to fruition, this would be one of the quickest turnaround between a Rockstar game announcement and launch.

Rockstar's "Red Dead Redemption 2" is expected to launch for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC in 2017.
