Kanye West is now known as Dr. Yeezus but he is not the only rapper that has a doctorate degree. LL Cool J was honored with a doctorate degree. And it was done during his daughter's own graduation.

Did LL Cool J's net worth boost after getting an honorable degree? It spiked a notch to say the least. According to Business Insider, LL Cool J received an honorary degree from Northeastern University. Even though he never went to college, he was awarded anyway. For the rapper and actor, he just wanted to present his daughter's diploma.

He has been in the industry for over 30 years and LL Cool J's net worth is over $100 million. Ever since he dropped "I Need A Beat" when he was sixteen years old, he has never stopped.

So why did he get an honorary doctorate degree? It was for his work in the arts and music. He started rapping at the age of nine. His grandfather, who raised him, invested on him at an early age, too.

When he was 11 years old, his grandfather bought him a $2,000 DJ system. LL Cool J worked on his music in the basement and sent tapes to a ton of record companies. It was Def Jam who saw his potential and took him under their label. And then "I Need A Beat" just happened to sell over 100,000 copies at the time.

With his success, LL dropped out of high school and focused on his music.

Although he did not continue his education, he did learn the ropes. He began acting as well. An NCIS: Los Angeles episode will need to shell out $150,000 just to have him on the show. He also received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame this year.

On January 21, 2016, LL Cool J received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. With 13 recorded studio albums, LL Cool J's net worth just gets better. Eight of those were Platinum and 3 of them were Gold.
