On Wednesday, Carli Lloyd and Alex Morgan scored a goal in each half as the U.S. women's soccer team win a victory over New Zealand 2-0 at the 2016 Rio Olympic Games.

U.S. women's soccer team debut game at the 2016 Summer Olympics earned a solid start in its effort to win a fourth straight Olympic gold medal.

In the Mineirao Stadium in Belo Horizonte, the two-time Olympic gold medalist Lloyd put the United States team ahead with a header in the ninth minute. While Morgan (FIFA Women's World Cup champion) added to the lead with a low shot from inside the area less than a minute into the second half, according to NBC Olympics.

The American professional soccer player Tobin Heath, stated that it was the best they could have started the Olympic Games Rio 2016. Tobin, who made the cross that led the goal of Lloyd, also said that they came out with a lot of energy and a lot of determination. Heath added that they put their best foot forward and got that goal and she thinks that helped propel them throughout the game.

However, at the start of the second half of the game, United States goalkeeper Hope Solo was booed by local supporters at Estadio Mineirao in Belo Horizonte and fans loudly chanting "Zika" every time Solo cleared the ball from her penalty area, USA Today reported.
