NVIDIA just announced its Pascal based graphics card, the GeForce GTX 1060.

GeForce GTX 1060 is designed with plastic and aluminum materials. The graphics card sports 1280 CUDA cores. Its base clock is 1506 MHz with GPU boost frequency at 1709 MHz. What's great about the graphics card is definitely its extremely low power consumption as it only draws 120 watts.

NVIDIa claims that GTX 1060 is comparable to GTX 980 when it comes to 'high detail' 1440 p gaming, PCper reported.

GTX 1060 vs RX 480 benchmarks have resulted in GTX 1060 winning 14 titles, as ExtremeTech wrote. Pascal architecture has allows GTX 1060 to be more energy efficient and better overclocking. THG tested the performance on both and found that GTX 1060 is 13.5% better than RX 480 at 1080p.

Many reviewers recommend GTX 1060 6GB VRAM since its frame buffer can handle games and apps that might go over 4GB frame buffer. It will be much useful to play at 1080p and VR.

The downside of GTX 1060 would be the absence of SLI connectors. This won't allow users to have two or more cards in a system. NVIDIA claims that the company wants to emphasize on the high end experience.

GTX 1060 vs RX 480

GeForce GTX 1060 is often compared to AMD RX 480 which is priced at $229. GTX 1060 price starts from $249 with its founders Edition sold at $299. These can be attractive options for gamers for 1080p or 1440 p choice.

NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 is bringing a lot of overclock headroom and with its power-saving advantage, it might be a good choice on the long term. For those who care so much about minimum noise and high power efficiency, then this graphics card makes a good buy.
