Rumors mills have not ceased swirling speculations around the much-awaited Google Nexus 2016, and if the latest leaks doing rounds are anything to go by, the search engine giant will be launching two new Nexus smartphones for its flagship lineup.

A slew of leaks have recently surfaced online tipping off what Google Nexus 2016 flagships may actually look like.

Recently surfaced renders crack wide open what the looming HTC-made Nexus flagships, codenamed "Sailfish" and "Marlin look like. The two new iteration will be in line with recent top-tier releases, not settling with a trademark design and finish from the previous Nexus lineups, BGR reported.

Several tech publications hint the new HTC-made phones will sport thinner bodies, slimmer profiles and will be housed in metal-and-glass construction. Reportedly, the two new iterations will be based on the same concept as the current-gen Nexus 5X and 6P, and will be launched at the same time to be the top-tier, 2016 editions for the 5.0-inch and 5.5-inch display lineups for Google Nexus.

Meanwhile, a three-dimensional version of the Google Nexus 2016 smartphone's renders released by Android Police to give avid Nexus fans a glimpse of the highly-anticipated Nexus smartphone has been created by Techconfigurations.

The video echoes a slew of reports from online tech publications hinting the Google Nexus 2016 smartphones will sport a slim and sleek look.

The purported smartphones will feature a large piece of glass oddly affixed on the back. The design choice seem to be a bit outmoded, however the smartphones are quite promising overall.

As far as specs and features of the Google Nexus 2016 smartphones are concerned, they will reportedly be powered by a Snapdragon 821 processor, recently announced by Qualcomm.

By the time mentioned, ASUS Zenfone 3 Deluxe is the only device slated to release with the aforementioned chipset.

However, it remains to be seen if Google will opt for the new processor. It won't be surprising if the company decides to go for the Snapdragon 820 processor instead. The next-gen processor will reportedly be coupled with at least 4 GB of RAM. Taking into consideration that there are a couple looming flagships, Google may come up with a premium-specs 2016 Nexus, and a 6 GB RAM in one of the flagships. In terms of storage, both devices are expected to pack 32 GB of storage.

In addition, the Google Nexus 2016 smartphones are expected to run Android 7.0 Nougat.

Although Google has remained mum regarding the upcoming smartphones' specs, fans believe the two imminent iteration, "Sailfish" and "Marlin" will boast top-tier specs.

As far the release date of the Google Nexus 2016 devices are concerned, rumors are running rampant that they will be unveiled sometime next month.

Google has not neither confirmed nor denied these speculations, which imply fans waiting with bated breath for the next Nexus iterations should take them with a grain of salt.
