Devin Wright from Utah State University was included in 2016 CoSIDA Academic All-America Track and Field/Cross Country Team list of honors.

Utah State University (USU) student Devin Wright was listed in the 2016 College Sports Information Directors Association for track and field/cross country. The announcement was made last Friday morning, June 24, Deseret News reported.

Devin Wright, junior thrower, was one of the Student athletes to earn a CoSIDA Academic All-American Division I honors in Mountain West. There were only two who made it in the list including Air Force's Taylor Smith.

This is Devin Wright's third time to be included in the CoSIDA list. Last May, Wright was included in the CoSIDA Academic All-District VIII Men's Track and Field/Cross-Country Team for the second time.

Wright, a native of Monticello, Utah, earned a grade point average (GPA) of 3.94. He is a biology major in Utah State University. He also garnered the javelin title during the 2016 Mountain West Outdoor Track and Field Championships after throwing 62.17 meters in the field. During the NCAA West Preliminary Championships held in Lawrence Kansas, Wright placed 42nd after throwing 55.29 meters. Currently, He ranks eighth in the schools javelin throw history with a throw of 63.61 meters, Utah State Aggies reported.

In the women's division, Jodie Williams of Utah State University wa awarded her first Academic All-District accolade. She earned a perfect 4.00 GPA while majoring in exercise science. She also ranked 25th in high jump in the West Region with a jump mark of 1.76 meters

The 2016 CoSIDA Academic All-America Division I Men's Track and Field/Cross-Country team consists of 45 members. Of all the members, 25 have GPAs of 3.90 or better which includes 15 members who have a GPA of perfect 4.0. Devin Wright is among the 15 students who earned third-team honors.

The selected CoSIDA Academic All-Americans of the Year for men was a graduate student of Florida State, Stefan Brits. In the women's division, the senior student-athlete of Iowa State, Christina Hillman, was honored CoSIDA Academic All-Americans of the Year.
