A slew of exciting devices are slated to debut within the year, but among the more notable ones is Microsoft's apparent trump card, the Microsoft Surface Book 2.

The forthcoming device will reportedly come up with all fixes for the problems its predecessor was afflicted with. Nevertheless, it still remains to be seen if it will emerge as a qualified contender in a market filled with cut-throat competition.

The Microsoft Surface Book 2 is developed to compete with the Apple MacBook line-up, which imply the device will be all geared up to lock horns with the Apple device in terms of performance and design, reports MNR Daily.

If the rumors doing rounds online are anything to go by, the upcoming device may pack the latest generation Intel Kaby Lake processors instead of the sixth generation Skylake processors found on its prototype.

After making its debut in October last year, Surface Book was marketed as the ultimate laptop owing to its superior quality specifications and price. It received great reviews, in fact many believed that the device will pose a real threat to Apple's MacBook Air. The Surface Book made quite an impact as all its models sold out like hot cakes.

When the device was rolled out to customers, they realized that the Surface Book was not sparred from flaws.

Among other problems that were reported were the lack of LTE connectivity and issue with its USB ports. The biggest problem that users had to face was the device's power setting as the device failed to enter into its sleep mode accurately. The problem was later traced to the device's Skylake processor, according to reports on NeuroGadget.

Although Microsoft released a fix for the issue in 2015, the tech giant is unlikely to opt for the same processor this time around.

The Redmond-based tech giant is all set to take the wraps off the latest Surface Book with better specs.

Rumored specifications of the upcoming device include a 4K display, a USB-Type C port and an array of other robust components that will totally justify the high price.  The Microsoft Surface Book 2 will reportedly be more expensive than its predecessor.

Considering that the existing Surface Book has a 2,000 x 3,000 pixel of resolution, it is completely understandable that the new version packs a 4K one. Also, the USB-Type C port is plausible as several of this type found on the market come with USB-C ports.
