More girls are dropping out of sports and it is not because of gender discrimination; but it is how they feel about their breast.

A scientific study published in Adolescent Health Journal clarifies the reasons why teenage girls are less seen in the field or gym to do sports. The factors are the 'developing breasts' and the girls behavior towards the development.

In the research, a survey of more than 2,000 girls at the age of 11 to 18 finds that almost 1,500 of the students concern about breasts size and breast bounce when they are exercising. These teens feel that their breasts are 'too small' or 'too big' in their bra.

Further questions addressed to the girls reveal that they feel uncomfortable undressing in changing rooms. The intuitive study reveals that the decrease in physical activity might be related to other reasons beside 'laziness' or 'puberty'. These girls' concern on the cup sizes shows that the survey identifies better thought.

Joanna Scurr from England's Portsmouth University gives a scientific explanation behind the breast and its support. The biomechanics professor says that breast size increases as the breast moves independently. The movements, causes discomfort that often leads to breast pain.

While there are gears specifically designed for athletics, these young girls do not feel it is mandatory to wear recommended gear such as sports bra. 10 percent of the respondents admit they wear sports bra whilst the rest know nothing about it.

According to Sharonda Taylor from Baylor College Pediatrics, girls are less informed on bra fitting and what size they need to wear. The expert also suggests more efforts to inform young women the importance of breast health and development, Opposing View has learned. Education, is the key to address the concern. This survey is hoped to help young women to participate more in gym and sports.
