The University of Florida has accidently included a criminal in the school's sports calendar.

Florida spokesman Daniel Apple said that the decision to include Aaron Hernandez - former Gators and New England Patriots football star - was approved last spring before he was arrested on June 26, 2013 for killing three men, NY Daily News reports.

Hernandez has been indicted on two counts of first-degree murder in the slaying of Odin Lloyd, Daniel de Abreu and Safiro Furtado. He pleaded not guilty to all of the charges.

The calendar features a photograph of the former tight end in his Gators costume running with the football for the month of July. It included his information: "Height 6'1″ - Weight 245 lbs - Hometown: Bristol, CT," CBS Local reports.

Apple said that the school learnt of the goof-up only on Monday. Since the calendar has already been printed and distributed for sale, there isn't much the school can do.

Twitteratis quickly reacted to the situation. One of them said that it is "flat-out embarrassing."

The University, however, removed a brick (that honored Hernandez's All-American 2009 season) from campus, last July, upon hearing the news of his arrest.

"We didn't feel it was appropriate to celebrate Aaron Hernandez," the University Athletic Association had said at the time. "We put together an immediate plan after the initial news broke to remove his likeness and name in various private and public areas in the facility - South Endzone team area, locker room football offices, Heavener Complex Kornblau Lobby and the brick display entrance to the fooball facility."
