Missouri State University announced record enrollment figures this fall, with both systemwide and Springfield campus totals rising year over year.

System enrollment climbed from 26,874 to 27,235, while Springfield campus numbers increased from 25,038 to 25,238. Growth was driven largely by more dual enrollment and transfer students, alongside stable student retention. Dual enrollment surged 9.1% to 7,778 students; first-time transfer enrollments rose 2.8% to 1,342.

Enrollments at the West Plains campus also increased by 2.8%, reaching 1,997 students. Among Missouri residents, numbers rose from 20,699 to 21,266.

Missouri State President Richard B. Williams called the numbers evidence that the university is "delivering for the state," citing efforts under the strategic plan known as Igniting Opportunity to strengthen pathways such as dual enrollment, seamless transfer, and accessible aid.

Vice President for Enrollment Management Dawn Medley emphasized refining scholarships and the MoState Access Award to support student persistence and affordability.

A noted decline in international graduate enrollment (down 8%) was partially offset by gains in undergraduate and resident students. International students now make up 5.7% of total enrollment, down from 6.9%.

Retention held steady at 76%. As Missouri State charts this growth, campus leaders say they will focus on doctoral program expansion, workforce alignment, and adult learner recruitment.
