Spotify has recently announced that college students from 33 more countries can avail of its premium package at half the price. This is believed to be a move by the music streaming company to attract a younger audience.

Students from Austria, Australia, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Columbia, Czech Republic, Denmark, Ecuador, Estonia, Finland, France, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Lithuania, Latvia, Mexico, Netherlands, New Zealand, Portugal Spain, Switzerland, and Turkey can enroll for Spotify Premium at $4.99. Places in Asia such as Hong Kong, Indonesia, the Philippines and Singapore are also included in the announcement.

In a post by Spotify, it was confirmed that the offer is open to students for every year that they are in college. It is also available now.

The music streaming service has partnered with SheerID. It is software for authentication and eligibility verification. It is intended to help administer and support the program.

Spotify Premium for Students allows subscribers to enjoy music streaming that is uninterrupted by ads. They can also listen to any of the 30 million songs in the database whenever they want with better sound quality. Moreover, they can take their collection offline to listen to songs and their playlists without using up data.

Students just need to sign up at the link. They will need to verify that they are currently enrolled in a university or college.

College students from the United States, United Kingdom and Germany have already been given access to Spotify Premium for Students. With this, the student plan has expanded to 36 markets worldwide and makes it the biggest music streaming student offer in the world in terms of geographical reach.

According to Study International, the student plan has received positive feedback online. Students took to Twitter to share the news and urged others to spread the word.

Apple Music has also offered a half-price deal for students in a growing list of countries. Last year, back in November, the company introduced the 50 percent student discount, with full access to its 30 million song library, to two dozen new countries.
