PlayStation 5 To Slay Project Scorpio With 10+ TFLOPS Computing Power; Exclusive Titles, Powerful Hardware Unbeatable

By

PlayStation 5 could have more than 10 TFLOPS of computing power to clearly outshine the Xbox Project Scorpio's 6 TFLOPS according to an analyst. Though just in theory, Sony now has a clear idea on how to leverage on its exclusive AAA titles complemented by powerful hardware to dominate the 4K gaming console competition.

A Macquarie Research analyst Damian Thong revealed that Sony needs to capitalize on its current PS VR success by coming up with a powerful gaming console. The PS5 is expected to arrive by the second half of 2018, a good several months after Xbox Project Scorpio's release. However, it could easily wrestle with the competition and secure its installed base of success if it delivers more than 10 TFLOPS in computing power in the PS5. This is, of course, a theory and Sony may opt to do the opposite for it did fail to deliver 4K disk reading capabilities on the PS4 to the dismay of many gamers.

If Sony does not follow through with Thong's recommendations, it still has another ace up in its sleeve. Though hardware remains an attractive factor, gamers are still interested in the number and quality of games offered by console makers. Sony has a solid array of exclusive titles that Microsoft could not equal. The more recent PS4-exclusive game is the "Horizon: Zero Dawn," which posted the biggest franchise launch seen in the said console, Screen Rant has learned.

Incidentally, the Nintendo Switch despite divided opinions has posted strong sales during its first launch despite the lack of sufficient games available with the console. The Japanese have already established a strong fanbase from its hits like "Legends of Zelda." Sony can leverage on its exclusive titles as well just like it did with its PS4, selling twice as many Xbox to be the number one console in the market according to Segment Next. However, a powerful hardware thrown in will be great news for gamers and for the video game industry as a whole.
