The Next Android Version for Google Pixel 2 won't Likely be Named 'Oreo'

By

What you've read and heard about Android Oreo could be a false clue. Here's why

It may be too early to talk about Android 8.0 as the Nougat update still continues to rollout to numerous handsets. Back to when Android Nougat was still a speculation, Lockheimer posted a list of desserts - which had gone viral until it's revealed that Nutella wasn't the name given for Google Android 7.

This year, Lockheimer teased the fans again, with 'Android Oreo' that they quickly assumed it would be the name for the next Android OS version. It probably was just a thought and many other names like Oatmeal Cookie has popped out as a suggestion, too.

Google Pixel 2 Expected Specs

Regardless of the name, the Android 8.0 will likely run on the next-gen Pixel phones, according to Trusted Reviews. Pixel 2 could be getting hardware refreshes such as bigger internal memory (for the sake of VR and 4K gaming). The phone should be getting thinner this year with IP68 rating expected.

Pixel 2 will reportedly focus on improved optics as the current generation is one of the best camera phone. Google could adopt the bezel-less phone design for its upcoming Pixel 2 whereas for the screen, BGR has noted that it will likely stick with OLED panel but get an improvement in color gamut.

Google Pixel 2 Release Date

Google launched the first Pixel in Q4 2016. It will likely follow the same pattern as the past. The Pixel 2 is expected to be launched sometime in October or November.

As for the pricetag, the Pixel and Pixel XL have been lauded for its impressive hardware-software, but apparently, Google sets a rather expensive price for the devices. Google could be tagging a higher cost for Pixel 2.
