'Syberia 3' To Be Released This Summer: 'Discover' Official Trailer In 3D; More Puzzles & Snow Ostriches Also Teased [VIDEO]

Adventure games have come a long way since the first one was released back in 1976. Thus, it is not surprising at all for "Syberia 3" to become one of the most anticipated point-and-click adventure games this year.

Developed and published by Microids in 2002, the "Syberia" adventure game series follows the story of Kate Walker - a lawyer who was sent to a remote village in France on behalf of her law firm to finalize a toy factory purchase deal, only to find herself searching for a mysterious island in Russia where prehistoric mammoths still live. Its sequel, "Syberia 2," left off where the first game ended - where Kate ultimately left her life in New York to join an "eccentric inventor" in Syberia to learn more about the surviving mammoths.

And finally, "Syberia 3" continues the epic tale of Kate as she decides to help the people who saved her after being badly injured upon leaving Syberia by facing off common enemies and accompanying snow ostriches to their next home. According to Kotaku, its development was initially announced in 2009 but was only confirmed in 2012 - after original game designer Benoît Sokal signed on to write its main story. In addition, the upcoming game will be in 3D-mode - as seen in its newly released "Discover" trailer - and will have more puzzles to unlock.

Further detailed on PC Gamer, "Syberia 3" was supposed to be launched last December when the gameplay trailer was shown at E3 2016. But somehow, it was rescheduled for this year - specifically, on April 20 in Europe and April 25 in North America. But as Microids Vice President Elliot Grassiano mentioned, "Discover" is meant to give fans of the adventure game a closer look into the new universe created by Sokal and musically interpreted by Inon Zur. Thus, the release date being pushed later will definitely be worth it.

"Syberia 3" is set to be released for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
