Players may be getting a huge "Pokémon GO" update soon. There are strong beliefs that the update will add the second wave of Generation 2 Pokémon.

Expectations among players surged when they start receiving emails about a new Niantic expansion. The email is a marketing email from The Pokémon Company, mentioning the newly released Johto baby Pokémon. This led some trainers to believe that another wave of Generation 2 Pokémon is being teased by Niantic.

The speculations only fired up when data miners found almost 40 new moves that strongly points to new Generation 2 monsters, Express reported from the Reddit thread, The Silph Road. Don't forget that the first time Niantic added new moves to "Pokémon GO," Ditto was also introduced.

It's highly possible that the same thing will happen in the upcoming update. Aside from the second wave of Generation 2 Pokémon, players are also expecting new features such as shiny monsters and brand-new Evolution items.

A minor game update was also unveiled recently. It was minor but it introduced bug fixes and an iOS wheelchair support that can be used alongside the Apple Watch. This means that the game now counts the distance traveled by a playing wearing an Apple Watch while in a wheelchair.

The update, version 0.55.0 for Android and 1.25.0 for iOS, made the starting load time faster on Android devices, according to Niantic's full patch notes. There are minor text fixes, too, and the Android connectivity issues for the "Pokémon GO" Plus accessory have been eliminated.

There were other updates and improvements introduced outside of Niantic's patch notes. Players on The Silph Road found that the game no longer pauses the music you're playing on your device while you're on the hunt for Pokémon. The update's code also introduced the term "critical catch" and an item type called "candy award." These additions will no doubt be clearer in the coming weeks, so it's best to just wait.

Even though the game now allows players to listen to music while catching Pokémon, the volume of the songs are considerably lower than usual, SlashGear pointed out. Players claimed that they have to increase their phone's volume in order to listen to the tracks, resulting in the sound being too loud for your ears when you finally exit the game.
