‘The Flash’ Season 3: Rick Cosnett Confirms Returning As Eddie Thawne With Two Other Former Cast Members [Video]

By

Rick Cosnett who played CCPD Detective Eddie Thawne in "The Flash" Season 1 and did a role reprisal in midway through Season 2, will come back to the CW series in Season 3 as confirmed by Cosnett himself on social media.

Midway in "The Flash" Season 2, Cosnett who played Detective Thawne reprised his role when "The Flash" traveled back in time. Cosnett confirmed his eventual return to the series in a Tweet, though he gave no further details of his return. Screen Rant reported that he will return during the latter half of Season 3.

However, with so many developments "The Flash" has gone through, who will Cosnett be playing upon his return? The safest fallback is as Eddie Thawne in a flashback, however, there are other possibilities since Barry Allen (Grant Gustin) it seems is fond on messing with the timeline and also crossed into different Earths.

Robbie Amell who played Ronnie Raymond and the original half of Firestorm, alongside Dr. Martin Stein (Victor Garber), is also reportedly returning to "The Flash," Entertainment Weekly learned. Accordingly, his return is being kept under wraps, but he is reportedly coming back in a winter episode. In a role reprisal, Amell returned to "The Flash" playing the villain named Deathstorm as Earth-2 doppelgänger who was killed off (again) by Zoom (Teddy Sears).

Speaking of Teddy Sears, he played the killer speedster Hunter Zolomon aka Zoom in "The Flash" Season 2. His character's exit had him transformed into the Black Flash. Though the character Black Flash may return in "The Flash" Season 3, Sears may not be available to return and play the role of Black Flash. Apparently, he is busy playing a role in Fox's "21: Legacy."

The Flash returns to the air on Tuesday, Jan. 24 at 8 p.m. ET on The CW.
