This week's WWE Smackdown results saw Dean Ambrose headling the show and taking on Intercontinental Champion The Miz with the title on the line. Daniel Bryan also hosted a contract signing for the WWE World Title match between champion AJ Styles and challenger John Cena to be held at WWE Royal Rumble in less than 4 weeks.

Earlier in the night of WWE Smackdown results, Maryse slapped Renee Young, avenging what the latter to the former's husband, The Miz. Meanwhile, and after a back-and-forth match, Dean Ambrose pinned The Miz after reversing a Skull Crushing Finale attempt into a Dirty Deeds.

According to a Wrestling Inc report, the contract signing between John Cena and AJ Styles turned hostile. Styles raised the issue that Cena suddenly gets a title shot despite being away for months. Daniel Bryan says that Styles has a point but after beating Raw in the ratings war last week, he knows the only way to follow it up is by renewing the John Cena-AJ Styles rivalry, last year's biggest draw.

While tensions were getting high, Baron Corbin interrupted the contract signing, setting up a match between himself and John Cena for next week's Smackdown.

American Alpha took on Breezango in a tag team match Smackdown results, according to Wrestlezone. They easily pick up the victory then the Wyatt family interrupted their celebration afterwards by saying they will invoke their rematch clause for the Smackdown Tag Team titles in next week's edition of Smackdown Live.

In the Smackdown women's division, Becky Lynch wrestled La Luchadora. Becky ended up getting a win after a Disarm Her on Luchadora. She unmasks her and it was actually Smackdown Women's Champion Alexa Bliss. Then the real La Luchadora came from under the ring and double-teamed Lynch.
