WWE Rumors: Brock Lesnar To Leave WWE For MMA; Will Rubber Match With Bill Goldberg Happen?

By

The current buzz in sports entertainment is that Brock Lesnar is about to leave the WWE. The news about the WWE superstar is leaving the franchise due to rumors within the company or if he will pursue a full-time MMA career.

The latest report remains unconfirmed for now, but many still believe that Lesnar will make his final appearance next year. Some speculate that Lesnar's devastating loss to Bill Goldberg at the recent Survivor Series 2016 may indicate that the WWE company is planning to end ties with him and look for another emerging star to replace him. Others suggest that Lesnar may be planning to return to the UFC and pursue a full-time career in MMA

Lesnar, 39, first left WWE in 2004 to try his luck in the National Football League, but his adventure did not work out the way he wanted. To recoup this failed attempt, he turned his attention to mixed martial arts and the UFC, where he eventually captured the crowd's interest and has quickly become one the most feared fighters in the octagon.

Lesnar reached the UFC stardom after beating UFC's former heavyweight champion Frank Mir.  He then challenged then heavyweight champion Randy "The Natural" Couture for the title whom he knocked out in the first round. Lesnar also has successfully defended his belt against division 2 all-American wrestler Shane Carwin.

According to Cageside Seats, which first broke the news, the 39-years-old Brock Lesnar still has one match left in his WWE contract for the remainder of 2016. The last match will take place in a house show in Mexico City on Dec. 3 where he will face the hard-hitting Rusev.

Aside from the upcoming face-off with Rusev, there is no more scheduled contest or appearance left for the MMA fighter. However, Cageside Seats has a good explanation about this. The folks at Cageside has suggested that Lesnar's crushing defeat at the recent "Survivor Series 2016" might be on the back burner for now and won't be dealt with until the build to Royal Rumble.

There's also added some new angle here, according to Cageside, in Lesnar's time off, the WWE might create the storyline for his third meeting with the returning Bill Goldberg.

So far, the WWE is currently busy establishing Goldberg's image, making him look like a returning veteran who has made one last shot after his stunning victory in the WWE pay-per-view event. The news about Goldberg making a strong comeback is no longer new in the sports industry. This is already expected, Goldberg and Lesnar for the next big fight in the WWE.

Goldberg has already released a statement, accepting the invitation to be part of next year's Royal Rumble match.

For now, these are just speculations, but there still a great possibility that the WWE will make this happen again. The potential third match, which is expected to be booked for "Wrestlemania 33", could be one of the biggest events in the sports entertainment.

In addition, the high-profile big event could be a potential revenue driver for the aging franchise like the WWE. The firm is currently facing tough market and in great need of some good events. A match between the two of the biggest superstars in the sports entertainment, Brock Lesnar and Bill Goldberg, could be the answer they're looking for.
