Before its slated release in less than a month, "Pokémon Sun and Moon" saved the best sneek peak for the game's latest update after dropping another trailer, featuring the final evolutions for the three starter Pokémon, Alola's guardian spirits, and other additional updates.

Starters have always been a core part of the series, since players often create a strong bond with their first pocket monsters. So the early introduction to these starters create an initial impression of which Pokémon should trainers choose upon exploring the Alola region. For the Grass-Flying Rowlett, its final evolution would be a Decidueye. Before, Rowlett will turn into a Dartrix for its first-generation evolution. Decidueye is categorized as an Arrow Quill Pokémon, which is a notable transformation from being a Grass Quill then a Blade Quill Pokémon. Decidueye is a Grass/Ghost-type Pokémon, coming from its pre-evolved forms that are Grass/Flying-type. Its new special Ghost-type move, Spirit Shackle, prevents its opponents from switching out or fleeing from battle.

The Heel Pokémon Incineroar is the fully evolved form of the Fire-type first-partner Pokémon Litten. Fire-type Litten will evolve into Torracat before its final form, Incineroar, which is a Fire/Dark type Pokémon, in contrast to previous franchise starters having a Fire/Fighting attribute. Its Darkest Lariat move will ignore the stat changes of its opponent when it blows.

The water Pokémon Popplio will evolve into Brionne, and then into the water-fairy Primarina as the final evolution. The Sea Lion Pokémon is a Water-Fairy-type Pokémon after being just a Water-type Pokémon in its pre-evolved forms. Primarina is the only Pokémon that can learn Sparkling Aria, a new Water-type special move which heals the burns of any target it strikes.

According to MNR Daily, other than the final evolutions of the starter Pokémons, the guardian spirits of the four main islands have also been revealed: Tapu Koko (who was revealed some time back), Tapu Lele, Tapu Bulu, and Tapu Fini.

The Psychic-Fairy Tapu Lele is the guardian spirit of the Akala Island, whose special ability, the Psychic Surge changes the battlefield to become 'weird.' Tapu Bulu, the guardian spirit of the Ula'ula Island, possesses the special ability, Grass Surge that covers the battlefield in grass and drains health.

Tapu Fini is the Water-Fairy guardian for the Poni Island. Its special ability is the Misty Surge, which covers the battlefield in mist, though the effect of the mist is still unknown.

All the guardian spirits, the Tapu, have a unique Z-move, which gives these guardian spirits a body they can use to battle the enemy.

Few other announcements include the foundation of the Alolan Pokemon League, where Champion trainers can compete against other famous trainers like Cynthia from Diamond and Pearl as well as Red and Blue - the protagonist/rival pair from the original Pokemon games.
