Water Test Reveals that Pixel and Pixel XL Phones are ‘Surprisingly More Waterproof’ than Samsung Galaxy S7, iPhone 7? [VIDEO]

A water test done on the newly launched Google Pixel phones reveals that an IP53 score Pixel phones got is allegedly unbelievable because the phones are more waterproof than anyone could think of. Is it true that Google Pixel phones are more waterproof than Samsung Galaxy S7 and iPhone 7?

Google Pixel Phones are Waterproof

Pixel and Pixel XL phones are certified IP53 in an International Protection tests conducted where 5 stands for dust proof and 3 stands for not-so waterproof. In a nutshell, the Pixel phones are protected against dust but barely waterproof which cannot stand a full immersion in water.

However, there are claims that Google Pixel phones are more waterproof than the IP53 score the phones received. In a dunk test video conducted by BGR, a Google Pixel phone has managed to survive a 30 minutes immersion in water where the phone is functioning just fine right after the submersion.

While Google Pixel phones are certified IP53, its rivals Samsung Galaxy S7 and iPhone got IP68 and IP67 respectively. The scores signify that the two flagships are both dustproof and waterproof in the sense that they will survive when fully immersed in water beyond 30 minutes.

Ways to Waterproof the Pixel Phones

An IP53 score has everyone believed that Google Pixel phones are not really waterproof but can survive sprays of water. In relative to that, CNET suggested two ways where the users can have their Pixel phones survived when emerge in water for more than 30 minutes.

First is buying a waterproof case sounds perfect for a clumsy aquatic ape. Each Lifeproof case costs $90 and will enable the phones to be submerged in 2 meters of water for one hour. The case also offers a drop protection feature that protects the phone from breakage when drop within 2 meters.

Another way is a waterproof pouch that costs $8 such as Moko universal phone bag. Though it is not as attractive as the Lifeproof case, the pouch should be enough cheap solutions on waterproofing.
