The newly launched smartphones of Apple of the East Xiaomi Mi 5 and Mi 5s are said to be the anti-thesis of Apple iPhone 7 and IPhone 7 Plus. Featuring a super speedy tri-band 4G carrier aggregation, Xiaomi Mi 5 and Mi 5s are powered by Snapdragon 821 chipset that made them surpassed the computational performance of all android smartphones and iPhones as well.

Xiaomi Mi 5 and Mi 5s specs are exceptional. Powered by Snapdragon 821 chipset, the newly launched smartphones of Apple of the East feature a super speedy tri-band 4G carrier aggregation and boost in computational performance as well. In the case of Mi 5s, it clocks faster with 2.3 GHz instead from the usual 2.15 GHz. These smartphones also feature a 128GB UFS 2.0 storage and 4GB of LPDDR4 RAM for the memory. But the most interesting feature of the phones is the new under-glass ultrasonic fingerprint reader located in the screen according to Engadget.

According to the CEO of Xiaomi Lei Jun, the ultrasonic fingerprint reader was two years in the making where the company has been exploring for such kind of technology since October 2014. Another feature highlighted during the launching is the camera specs of Mi 5s which is said to be using Sony 1 / 2.3-inch IMX378 CMOS that offers a 12MP resolution. The camera also features a dual-tone LED flash, auto HDR, phase detection auto-focus and 4K video recording.

On the other hand, Xiaomi Mi 5 is about to get its Android 7.0 Nougat upgrade alongside Xiaomi's popular handsets like Redmi Note 4 and Redmi 3 most especially according to International Business Times. Xiaomi handsets that are unlikely to get the Android Nougat are those powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor which is not compatible with the latest android version.

Xiaomi Mi 5s with 4GB RAM and 64GB storage has a price tag of $345 or 2,299 yuan while Mi 5s Plus with 6GB RAM and 128GB storage will cost $390 or 2,599 yuan.
