Latest updates on "Spider-Man: Homecoming" includes a leaked cast sheet for the film showing the actors' names and their roles in the movie. Meanwhile, movie director of "Guardians of the Galaxy", James Gunn defends the casting role for Mary Jane Watson.

The leaked character sheet was posted on Reddit which then went viral on the internet. The actors listed includes Angourie Rice who will be playing the role of Betty Brandt who is Peter Parker's co-worker at the Daily Bugle publication. It also lists one of the villains in the movie, Herman Schultz also known as Shocker whose role will be played by Bokeem Woodbine. Other roles such as friends and high school batch mates of Peter Parker are also listed: Jacob Batalon as Ned Leeds, Tony Revolori as Flash Thompson, and Laura Harrier as Liz Allan.

This list, however, is not an official release and is yet to be confirmed by the producers of the movie. Marvel also did not made any comment about the leak.

Meanwhile, pop singer and Disney star, Zendaya, will be playing the role of Peter Parker's love partner, Mary Jane Watson. Initially, Zendaya's role was a character named Michelle who turns out to be a cover for Mary Jane. Although many supports her for the role, there are also a lot of fans who do not like her being Mary Jane and are vocal about their opinion. This was because Mary Jane was traditionally white -skinned with red hair, YIBADA reported.

According to James Gunn, the primary attribute that makes the Mary Jane character iconic is her alpha female playfulness. He said that if the actress captures that attribute, it would work. Also, Gunn stated that basing the primary attribute of the character on the color of skin and hair is "shallow". Gunn also cited Zendaya's physical attribute, Cinema Blend reported.

"Spider-Man: Homecoming" will be on the big screen on July 27, 2017.
