Google Nexus 2016: AnTuTu Benchmark Reveals Key Specs, Score For HTC Nexus Sailfish!

By

HTC is slated to build both of Google's upcoming Nexus smartphones, which will also serve as launch pads for Android 7.0 Nougat. One of those devices, the Nexus Sailfish recently surfaced on AnTuTu benchmarks.

Rumor mills have been swirling a slew of speculations around the HTC Nexus smartphones hinting that the device will launch this year.

If latest reports are anything to go by, HTC will take the wraps off some new Nexus devices in October, particularly on the fourth of the month. In the midst of these rumors doing rounds, some new details on the Sailfish device have surfaced online. These details encompass some specs that have showed up in AnTuTu benchmarks.

Recently-surfaced AnTuTu listing for the the smaller Google Nexys 2016, the HTC Sailfish, reveals the purported smartphone will be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor, coupled with 4 GB of RAM and a mammoth 32 GB of storage. Moreover, HTC Sailfish will be running Android NMR1 i.e. Android Nougat Manufacturer Release 1, according to the specification list spotted on Chinese microblogging site Weibo.

Although the screen size is not mentioned, the resolution is divulged as 1920 x 1080. While the front camera is an 8-megapixel unit, the rear camera packs an impressive 13-megapixel resolution.

Based on all the new details that have surfaced about the rumored smartphone so far, it looks like the HTC Sailfish could match the Galaxy Note 7 and Galaxy S7. In fact, the upcoming 2016 Google Nexus smartphone has the edge over Samsung's next flagship phones on the software side; the new Sailfish will run Android 7.0 out of the box, BGR reported.

That being said, Samsung's phones, which verified to be extremely fast in benchmark tests as well as real-life performance analysis, do have a trick up its sleeve too, fast UFS storage. It's kind of too early to speculate whether the Google's upcoming Nexus phones will pack similarly fast storage.

If rumors proved to be true, the Marlin, the new Nexus phablet this year, will feature identical specs.

A Geekbench listing for the Sailfish, spotted by TechDroider, confirms the same specs. According to the benchmark, the phone chalked up 2158 score in single-core tests, while in multi-core tests, the phone obtained a 5355 score.

The phones are rumored to hit the store shelves on October 4 with the final version of Android 7.0.
