'The Nutcracker' Cast : Mackenzie Foy To Play as Clara; Morgan Freeman Will Be In The Cast Too?

By

Disney's "The Nutcracker" has been a favorite for over 120 years, but it does not stop there as Disney is preparing for the biggest production for the story.

The soon to-be biggest blockbuster version of "The Nutcracker" is getting ready for production. Last month, Misty Copeland was added as star to the movie. Recently, Mackenzie Foy was also in the cast list in addition to the previously announced. It was said that Foy is the lead actress of the upcoming movie.

The main protagonist, Clara, was the girl who is given a Nutcracker doll, will be played by Mackenzie Foy. The nutcracker doll, given by Clara's parents will come to life later and take his owner to an adventure to a magical kingdom. They will go together on a journey to defeat the evil Mouse King. Even though the upcoming movie is based on the original story made in 1816, the introduction of Clara as the main protagonist is the evidence that the movie will have an incorporation of the ballet elements, Variety reported.

Foy was best known for playing in 2014's "Interstellar" as the young Murph Cooper. Additionally, Foy appeared as Reneesmee Cullen in "Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn" in both Part 1 and Part 2.

The main star for the movie was announced, but it does not stop there. The upcoming Disney film will have a legend in its cast. The powerful-voiced Morgan Freeman will be joining the list as the 'mysterious' character of Drosselmeyer. In the ballet, Drosselmeyer was the creator of the Nutcracker which is also Clara's godfather. The same will be retained in the movie. Freeman was recently seen in some famous movies like "Now You See Me 2". "Ted 2", and "London Has Fallen". Also, Morgan Freeman will be seen in next month's Ben-Hur remake, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

This new Nutcracker movie is written by Ashleigh Powell. Unfortunately, there is not announcement yet of the movie's official release.
