Snapchat added a Purple Rain filter as tribute for music icon prince alongisde a new faceswap feature that lets snappers swap faces with any face stored in the phone's camera roll. The filter added to honor Prince literally adds Purple Rain on snapchat photos and selfies. The app also added another section where fans can post tributes to Prince.

According to Daily Mail, the new section is called "We Love Prince." Snapchat users can post their tributes on the story page. Contributions and tributes from artists, celebrities and fans all over the US can be seen there.

Snapchat released an update for its iOS apps. It contained a new filter where users can now faceswap solo. Basically, the new feature will let Snappers face swap with any photo on their phone's camera roll.

Techno Buffalo explains that in order to use the new filter, users will need to open the front camera for selfie mode. The Verge shares that the rear camera can also be used to access the new feature but it has to be focused on someone's face first. The app will open a menu where they can select images of what picture they can face swap with. Pictures of friends, family, pets, celebrities or anything with a face can be used. Results can vary from horrifying to downright comical.

Additionally, the update on iOS also removes the option where Snapchat charges users for replaying a Snap. So instead of in-app purchases, there will only be advertisements, MacWorld notes. Users of Snapchat can once again replay Snaps for free and then they disappear once done.
