Brigham Young University (BYU) conducted a study in 2010 that social interaction can lengthen a person's life and a lack thereof can shorten it.

Perhaps that is why the school claimed the top two spots on Niche's list for U.S. schools with the friendliest students. In addition to there study, BYU is also the Princeton Review's most sober school, thanks to their honor code.

According to the Huffington Post, most of the friendliest schools on the list are small, private institutions with religious affiliations. Only six schools in Niche's top 20 have enrollments more than 10,000 students.

For their list, Niche surveyed 55,000 students and alumni who gave their personal opinions on the friendliness of their classmates.
