The mysterious iPhone 6 is quite literally taking shape as its impending release date inches closer.

The latest in a series of leaked images apparently has given the Internet the most likely mock-up of Apple's next iPhone. All these leaked images are slowly demystifying the iPhone 6, though Apple is staying true to form and keeping absolutely quiet on that front.

Translated by GforGames.com, a new report from Nikkei shows the 4.7- and 5.5-inch iPhone 6 next to one another, appearing is if they were just taken out of their box. By now, the iPhone 6 is widely believed to be offered in those two sizes and with rounded edges and a slimmer body than the iPhone 5S.

GforGames.com reported Nikkei's unnamed sources indicated the new mock-up should not be accepted as what the final product will look like. The sources reportedly said the mock-up does offer a basic idea.

Nikkei's sources also supported previous rumors that the iPhone 6 could have a curved display. After buying a plant in Arizona, Apple is also expected to use sapphire crystal for the display. A much tougher material, Apple has previously used sapphire for the iPhone to a smaller degree, such as with the camera lens cover.

As for when the iPhone 6 will hit shelves, the Internet is not short on those reports either. In late May, AppleInsider.com learned of a report from apfelpage.de that suggested German supplier Deutsche Telekom learned Apple will release its next iPhone Sept. 19. AppleInsider.com noted it is highly unlikely that Apple is informing its suppliers of a specific release date months in advance.

However, it does make sense given the release date of the last two iPhone models. Sept. 19 would be the third Friday of the months, a date where Apple has released its past two models the last two years.

What is even more unclear is whether or not the two different-sized iPhones will come out simultaneously or with the larger one several weeks later.
