Samsung is known for its intriguing tactic of rolling out different versions of its mobile device. As the tech giant followed the Galaxy S7 with the Galaxy S7 Active last year, a recent leak points to Galaxy S8's new version, the Samsung Galaxy S8 Active. Meanwhile, the Samsung Galaxy S8 Plus stood atop in Consumer Reports' newly released smartphone rankings.

As the name implies, Samsung's highly popular 2017 flagship, Galaxy S8, will have a ruggedized version, the Samsung Galaxy S8 Active. Just as Samsung did in recent years, the South Korean tech titan will roll out a new version of its flagship mobile device that is more suitable for rough use and harsh environment.

Reports are springing one after the other claiming that the tech giant is planning on launching the Galaxy S8 Active. The first time the new Galaxy S8 model hit the rumor mill was when a supposed photo of the smartphone was leaked late last month. Nonetheless, the recent Geekbench 4 test results of the Galaxy S8 Active appear to confirm this news, BGR reported.

On the said recent benchmark leak, the Samsung Galaxy S8 Active has a single-core score of 1842 and a 6394 multi-core score. Galaxy S8 Active's scores are impressive, particularly when compared with other flagship handsets with Qualcomm's latest Snapdragon processor. However, the Samsung Galaxy S8 Active ranks just below the original Galaxy S8, but the device is competing with the Galaxy S8 Plus and HTC U 11.

On the other hand, Samsung's Galaxy S8 Plus smartphone gets the top spot of Consumer Reports newly released smartphone rankings. The Samsung Galaxy S8 Plus beat out the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus. The Consumer Reports, which is a consumer-oriented research, made it known that due to the high-quality camera, extended battery life and slender appearance of the Galaxy S8 Plus, the flagship smartphone won the top spot, Washington Post reported.
