Overwatch is celebrating its first-year anniversary big-time with new exciting items. While most fans are gushing over the new skins, which are really amazing, there are other surprises, such Easter eggs, a new arcade setup, and more during the Overwatch anniversary event.
In an interview with Jeff Kaplan during the developer's update, he said that there will be a lot of new things for the fans, especially on the arcade mode. First, there will be three additional maps - Castillo, Necropolis, and Black Forest.
Castillo is based in a fort overlooking the Dorado map and has the feel of those old western movies. It was revealed that players can find a number of Easter eggs here related to Sombra. Hopefully, these will be clues revealing more about her past.
The second map is Black Forest, which could be familiar to those who have seen the short animation, The Last Bastion. The third map that will be revealed during the course of the Overwatch anniversary event is Necropolis, a nighttime map set outside the Temple of Anubis. Necropolis will also contain references to the interaction between Ana and Soldier 76.
As reported, the Arcade mode will have a whole different setup because Blizzard removed Elimination preventing players to self-heal. In its place are two Elimination variants - Limited Duel and Lockout Elimination.
Limited Duel is a 1vs1 duel where the opposing players have the ability to choose three heroes each as their ally. Lockout mode, on the other hand, is a 3vs3 duel where the heroes of the winning team will be locked out after the end of each round.
Aside from this, fans were treated to some cool dance moves from each characters. There's McCree doing some line dance and Winsotn's Pulp Fiction number. The cutest of them all is perhaps Roadhog who seemed to enjoy every step.
The Overwatch anniversary event will run until June 12.
