Nintendo has finally confirmed a familiar "Legend of Zelda" main villain's last name on the game's official website. Fans will now finally be at ease with this major information as recurring main villain Ganondorf will now have a canonical last name.

Nintendo Finally Confirmed Ganondorf's Official Last Name

On the official website of the game franchise, fans can check out different kinds of official information provided by Nintendo and one of them is a character compendium. One entry focuses on the main villain's full name, which is Ganondorf Dragmire. This is a name that has not been used much in any official data since "The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past," IGN reported.

The Dragmire last name was previously used as Ganondorf's last name in an English-translated manual for "The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past" in 1992. Fans of the franchise would usually refer the franchise's main trio, which are Zelda, Link, and Ganondorf, with their first names only.

Nintendo also provided details on Ganondorf in the character glossary. According to its lore, he was once known as the King of Thieves, and he used the power of the Triforce to become the beast called Ganon, according to the official website of the game franchise.

In other "Legend of Zelda" related news, it was revealed that the game franchise has generated a lot of money in the US. While "The Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild sold more than the latest Nintendo Switch, the game franchise as a whole sold a lot and garnered a lot of revenue in the US since its beginning, Segment Next reported.

The NPD Group revealed that since the start of "Legend of Zelda" in 1995, it has brought in $1.4 billion in revenue in the US alone. It also has 54 percent more software sales compared to other game franchises in the US.
