Just recently, NVIDIA announced that their team has been working on MacOS Driver which will support its forthcoming 10-series graphic cards. Rivaling AMD's Radeon Vega lineup, NVIDIA's MacOS Driver release 378.05.05 is now available for MacOS Sierra.

Amid the presence of Pascal in the said MacOS driver update, tech insiders believe that it is quite odd since such update is especially dedicated to new hardware and performance improvements. In addition, NVIDIA GPUs have not been present to Apple devices for a while now, TechReport reported.

Moreover, the supported hardware listed in the release notes have ages from four to five years old. This update will be hitting Mac Pro Systems (2008, 2009 and 2010 versions) and MacBook Pros and iMacs (2013 and 2012 systems).

Also, the Pascal graphic card is notably not included in the release notes of supported hardware. Instead, the MacOS driver update notes include the previous GeForce GTX 680 and Quadro K5000. These products were originally sold in Apple systems many years ago.

Meanwhile, according to a Reddit post, this update is quite successful specifically when it comes to new drivers and the recently released Titan XP graphic card. Thus, since those people who have already received the update claim it truly brings better changes, it definitely is the promised Pascal update.

On the other hand, there are claims that the new NVIDIA GPU is the latest version of a Quadro card. The report also added that it will provide a huge advantage for NVIDIA against its competition with AMD which is slated to launch its Radeon Vega GPUs.

NVIDIA has not yet revealed any plans on how it will counter the AMD launch. However, many believe that the company is not letting AMD easily during its landmark event and there will be a surprise releases to secure its standing in the GPU arena.
