A New York Based startup company has created that brings us closer to a Tony Stark like Jarvis at home. The novel idea is that the AI is housed in a 27-inch mirror with full HD capability and touch.

The Duo is touted as part mirror - all computer, a device that operates from beyond your own reflection. To put it simply, the Duo operates pretty much like the cylindrical Amazon Echo and Google Home. The difference is that it comes in a "mirror" configuration that also functions as a full HD touchscreen, which can display information as well as provide entertainment.

The 27-inch reflective mirror/display has an advantage with its incorporated smart computer running on the company's own HomeOS. It features its own customizable artificial intelligence called "Albert." Albert, The Duo's voice-powered assistant, can be heavily customized with personality packs that can be downloaded from the app store.

Being voice activated, it allows for a variety of tasks without needing to leave fingerprints all over its mirror screen. Users can even change the AI's name, gender, accent, and for full integration into a home environment comes with its own app store and open software, allowing for products and services to be integrated with the mirror, Huffington Post reported.

The Duo's electronics is housed in a separate discrete slim casing, which allows it to function with an ultra thin profile. The Duo can connect home devices, which allows the user to control smart home devices via voice command. It can also function as an all-purpose entertainment hub.

The entire device is only 1.9mm thin weighing in at only eight pounds, which makes it ideal to be mounted on any wall. The Duo is a full-blown computer that is fitted neatly inside a mirror, according to DesignBoom. The Duo can also be propped up on a table', developers say on their website.

The Duo team has developed a web-based HomeOS SDK for developers who would want to develop apps to be used with the innovative platform. The company is inviting qualified developers to develop HomeOS as well. Approved applications will receive instructions for the purchase of the Development Kit that will include a pre-production Duo unit with access to HomeOS Beta SDK.

DUO Tech Specs

The Duo is now available for pre-order from the company's website. The Duo is being offered at an introductory Early Bird price of $399 for the first 1,000 units, that is $200 less of its standard price. Shipping will start in October 2017.
