The enrollment rate at Florida State College has decline but the school is trying to find ways to make a turn around and reverse this trend by holding debt-free college sessions. This program aims to help parents and students gain knowledge about financial aids, scholarships and get help in applying for them.

The Jacksonville Promise program will have 5 information sessions which will take place in FSCJ campuses, Jacksonville.com reported. In fact, the first session was already held last April 8, 2017, where college representatives have provided details of the program and helped students and parents apply for the financial aid.

The next sessions will be on Tuesday, April 11, 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., at FSCJ's Kent Campus, 3939 Roosevelt Blvd. and at FSCJ's South Campus,11901 Beach Blvd. The following week sessions are on Tuesday, April 18, 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at FSCJ's North Campus, 4501 Capper Road and at FSCJ's Deerwood Center, 9911 Old Baymeadows Road.

Those who are interested to apply should register at visit fscj.edu/promise and choose the session they wish to attend.

Meanwhile, the state also rolled out the FSCJ Promise which aims to help first time college students pay for their college expenses. The program is created to help students from low-income families to get an associate degree without debt, and has a goal of helping out 1,000 students in a year, WJCT reported. The program will cover the expenses for the first two years of tuition, as well as the books and fees for students if other aids will not be enough to meet their needs.

Students who are interested must qualify for a Pell Grant, which means that the income of their family should be qualified. They also should have graduated from Nassau or Duval County high school in the past three years, and should be enrolled as a full time student.
