More and more employers are allowing their employees to work from home. Some companies also let their workers telecommute for positions that can easily be done by telecommute.

There are still challenges, though, that both employers and employees face with telecommuting since it's still a fairly new process and not all companies have established protocols with it. Working from home also requires more motivation for workers.

For fresh graduates who want to work from home, Real Simple reported that there are plenty of benefits for most workers like work-life balance, flexible schedules as well as cost and time savings.

It is important to note, though, that some telecommuting jobs have a location requirement. According to FlexJobs, this is caused by matters of legal, taxation, professional licensing as well as training and regular in-person meetings.

The publication also compiled a list of the top 15 states with the most work from home jobs last year. Listed along with the states are the companies that are hiring.

Arizona: Progressive, Verizon, and Walgreens

California - Anthem, Dell and Volkswagen

Colorado: JPMorgan Chase, OpenTable, and Unilever

Florida: American Heart Association, Colgate-Slimline, and Hilton Worldwide

Georgia: Chobani, Office Depot, and Worldpay

Illinois: Blue Cross Blue Shield, Ernst & Young, and Nestle

Massachusetts: Liberty Mutual, Mitsubishi Electric, and The Hartford

Minnesota: Boston Scientific, Citizens Bank, and UnitedHealth Group

New Jersey: DeVry Education Group, General Electric, and Robert Half International

New York: Adobe, Salesforce, and Xerox

North Carolina: Houghton Mifflin Harcourt, Lenovo, and SAP

Ohio: Capella University, Cars.com, and 3M

Texas - Humana, Toyota, and Wells Fargo

Virginia: Biogen, CenturyLink, and Nielsen

The states listed above each had the highest number of telecommuting jobs in 2016. California, Texas and New York were the states that had a lot of postings for work from home jobs. Minnesota, Georgia and Colorado, among others, were also included in the geographically diverse list of states.
