Central State University was on lockdown for a few hours after a gunfire incident was reported. Wilberforce University also lifted its lockdown after CSU.

On Monday night, Central State University took to Twitter to alert its campus community about gunfire on campus. The school confirmed the lockdown just before 9 p.m. until further notice.

NBC4i.com reported that the lockdown was lifted about three hours later. The university sent out a statement expressing their thanks to the University's Campus Police Department, Greene County Sheriff's Office, Wilberforce University Police and Kettering Police's canine unit for responding quickly to the situation. Apparently, Central State University received a report of an armed robbery in one of its buildings.

Officers heard a gunshot while investigation was going on. Both Central State and Wilberforce University campuses were immediately placed on lock down.

One female student was found to have been wounded and was transported to Miami Valley Hospital. She is already in a stable condition. No one else was injured.

The police searched the nearby woods and found a weapon. Continuing the investigation are the Greene County Sheriff's Office and Central State University Campus Police. The incident was said to have happened around a co-ed dorm.

According to Dayton Daily News, CSU has increased its police presence right after the gunfire incident. Police have been more visible and are patrolling the campus more. The university has also announced that it is offering counseling to students who need it.

Students gathered together for a vigil in campus on Tuesday. They sang songs and prayed together. The university has discouraged reporters to interview students even though the school is a public institution.

Apparently, the gunfire incident stemmed from a robbery. Three CSU students, one of whom had a gun, entered the victim's room and demanded marijuana.

The victim was able to identify the suspects but no arrests have been made yet. A female student got shot in the leg when a bullet traveled through a wall and struck her.
