Google Assistant will be available for selected handsets this week

Android Nougat and Marshmallow devices will be able to use Google Assistant starting this week

Google Assistant was supposed to be the exclusive feature in Google Pixel phones. However, this week will be its biggest update as it will rollout to selected handsets running Marshmallow and Nougat Devices, CNET reported.

This week, the English version release will be for users in US, Canada, Australia and UK whilst Germany will get the German speakers. As for the devices, Google did not mention specific brands as Google Assistant will wildly rollout to all Android 6.0 Marshmallow and Android 7.0 Nougat devices in the selected countries.

This means more Android mobile users will test how powerful virtual assistant is, on their devices. For those in Barcelona, Google promises exciting things at Android Global Village as visitors can try 'giving order' to the personal helper on smartphones from Samsung and Sony.

The Google Assistant expansion beyond Pixel phones is part of the company's goal to make it available anywhere. Previously, Google has rolled out the virtual assistant to Android Wear 2.0 smartwaches and more electronic appliances will be able to use the assistant in the near future.

Google Assistant can respond to voice commands asking for details like weather or news. The smart assistant understands user's preferences based on their Google accounts and answers complex questions, Mashable reported.
