Google DayDream VR made a huge hit last year, however, that VR headset still lacks VR content. So Google this week has made some huge announcement, addressing the VR content issues.

For a starter, Google Daydream VR is a virtual reality platform developed by the search giant for the Android Nougat OS. The VR platform was introduced at the Google I/O developer event on May of last year, with first VR headset released on November of 2016.

The Daydream platform includes both software and hardware specifications, and a designated compatible device, which they referred as 'Daydream-ready'.

Google Opens DayDream VR To All Developers
According to TechCrunch, Google has finally opened the floodgates and has invited every single developer in the wild to submit their VR applications for the company's mobile VR platform. This is Google's first step in its quest to gain a strong footing in the fast-growing VR market.

Google Imposed Some Strict Requirements On App Development
Although Google has invited everyone to get on board and build an app for DayDream platform, the company would not simply accept any app submission to their VR platform. There will be some strict requirements and screening.

To speed up the platform's app development, Google this week published steps for developers interested in building an app for the Daydream platform. The full details of the developer guides can be found at Google Developers website.

After the app submission to Google Play, Google will make a thorough review to ensure it meets the Daydream App Quality criteria, according to XDA Developers.

Thankfully, Google has just announced the basic criteria for app development which include design, functionality, stability and performance.

Designing apps for VR can be different than the other mobile platforms because poorly designed VR applications can make some users feel nauseated, Google told the developers.

In other VR news, Claude Zellweger, who recently led HTV Vive design team, is leaving HTC to work on Google DayDream VR platform. According to The Verge, Zellweger made the huge announcement via Twitter.
