Microsoft announces the launch of the new OneDrive for Business Improvements. But only the commercial version is available for its Office 365 subscribers. The new release will include file synchronization and management enhancements. For IT professionals, a browser accessible OneDrive Admin Center is made available as well.

After the preview back in December 2016, many subscribers were interested to get access. There is also a free consumer version available but the recent launch is mainly the commercial version.

The University of Edinburgh also uses OneDrive For Business. Their staff and students are able to access university content, personal and work files anywhere. They found the benefits very advantageous as it can hold University documents in a 1 Terabyte storage. The University of Cambridge also encourages its staff and students to set up a OneDrive account available for Windows, Mac, Android, Linux and iOS users.

For those waiting for the release, the roll out times are different for every subscriber, as reported by Redmond Magazine. What is so interesting about this launch, according to reports, is that the OneDrive Admin Center portal has seven sections where IT experts can get a view of the service.

These are the Home, Sharing, Sync, Storage, Device Access, Compliance and Notification sections. Those who use SharePoint in schools, offices, public and private institutions are going to receive the OneDrive for Business management portal, as reported by Microsoft Office.

OneDrive has been used by many as a file hosting service that allows users to sync files and access them via browser or mobile. It was previously known as SkyDrive, Windows Live SkyDrive and Windows Live Folders. The new OneDrive release has better synchronization improvements as well as end user improvements. Users can access content offline and provide a better sharing experience.
